About me

Often asked who I am or what is it I do. Well.
Perhaps the following will help.
I am a Cavaliere dell'Ordine dei produttori di occhiali di Firenze.
One of the last few. Quite rare, in as much as I am English.
A great honor indeed!.

As I said, we are few. Only ten now. I am the youngest at 65.
We meet twice a year behind closed doors, in Florence, to follow the rites and guard the secrets. They are pleasant events where I can catch up with very old friends.
This year I have been granted the great honor of Custode della pergamena d'onore.
I now keep these safe for delivery to the next custodian when my term is complete.
This is the first time they have traveled from Italy.
Also, it is the first time I have been able to handle the manuscripts.

The earliest are from the 13th century.
There comes with the title a heavy burden. I hope I do not fail them.

For those of you who don't know what I look like.

I make Medieval Spectacles that are historically and archaeologically referenced
from the late 13th century through into the early 16th century.

They are made from Wood, Faux Bone and Faux Horn.
For the early 16th century, Pewter frames are available.
